Axel Technology - ChangeOver I/O Streaming pour Falcon X5

In a broadcast chain, signal availability remains essential. The Falcon X5’s Advanced Audio ChangeOver option adds an automatic switchover function capable of monitoring the various available sources and selecting an alternative input when silence or a fault is detected.

The main advantage of this function lies in its versatility. The system is not limited to a single type of connection: it can switch between analogue, digital, MPX, FM, IP or Dante sources. The Falcon X5 can therefore bring together signals from very different types of equipment and architectures within a single fail-over scheme.

This approach makes it possible, in particular, to implement multiple levels of redundancy. A primary source can be linked to a backup feed from another interface, an IP stream or a network signal, without requiring both paths to use the same format. The ChangeOver then acts as a central management point to maintain audio continuity when the normally used source is no longer available.

Silence detection is at the heart of this function. It enables the processor to identify the absence of a signal and trigger the switchover sequence defined by the installation. This automation eliminates the need for manual intervention during every interruption and can prove particularly useful for broadcast channels that must remain operational at all times.

Combined with the Falcon X5’s connectivity options, this feature therefore significantly expands the range of programme redundancy scenarios. It can accommodate both traditional audio connections and sources from an IP infrastructure or MPX broadcast system.

ChangeOver I/O Streaming thus provides the Falcon X5 with an additional layer dedicated to signal availability, combining silence detection with automatic selection from several families of audio sources.
