Axel Technology - Interface audio Numérique Multimode pour Macrotel

In a setup where the various audio devices already communicate digitally, Axel Technology’s Multimode Digital Audio Interface for Macrotel allows the telephone hybrid to be integrated without having to convert the signal to analogue. This option adds an AES/EBU digital audio input and output to the Macrotel X1 or X2 Multimode, directly accessible via XLR connectors.

The Macrotel operates in the same way regardless of the telephone source used: POTS, VoIP, Bluetooth or GSM, depending on the configuration. In particular, the on-board audio processing continues to provide AGC, parametric equalisation, compression, expansion, limiting and other functions designed to adapt the telephone signal for broadcast use.

The digital interface supports several sampling rates, from 32 to 96 kHz, making it easy to integrate into different audio environments. The digital input level can be adjusted via the software, whilst the digital output also features a level control. Together, these allow the Macrotel to be precisely adapted to the operating level of the upstream or downstream system.

Connections are made via balanced XLR sockets with an impedance of 110 Ω. The Macrotel also features an additional analogue XLR output, which retains the option for analogue connection even when the digital interface is installed.

This option is naturally suited for use between a telephone hybrid and a digital mixing console, a processor or another audio interface equipped with AES/EBU. It thus avoids the need for additional conversion and simplifies the connection when the installation relies primarily on digital audio links.
