Presentation
The REDD.47 Special Edition preamplifier offers exceptional sound recreation. It captures the punch and aggression of the original EMI equipment that defined an era. Its great strength lies in the meticulous integration of authentic vintage components, the fruit of years of research and collection. Each unit includes fifty-three vintage parts. You'll find Piher, ISKRA, Beyschlag and ERO/Roederstein resistors, found in old EMI, Neve and Marshall equipment. Capacitors such as Siemens, Wima, ERO, Roederstein and the famous Mullard 'tropical fish' also enhance this design.
This approach ensures maximum fidelity to the sound of the sixties and seventies, as Wade Goeke, the chief designer, points out, favouring traditional manufacturing techniques and original parts for enhanced authenticity. Mirek Stiles, Abbey Road's Audio Product Manager, confirms this approach, stating that the unit is as close as possible to an original REDD preamp from the sixties.
The unit has a new layout that recalls the iconic cassette look of the original REDD consoles, and features a new EMI light sign, characteristic of vintage consoles. It retains the main circuit path of the REDD.47 while incorporating additional sections from the REDD.51, such as Input Sensitivity, Line In and Low Frequency Boost.
More than just sound power, the REDD.47 Special Edition Preamp represents a lasting investment, designed to accompany musical creations over the long term. Many renowned professionals use them, including engineers for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maroon 5, and studios such as Abbey Road Studios.
