Definitive Audio - AD 400X
The Definitive Audio AD 400X is a professional 2-channel amplifier delivering 2 x 200 W into 4 Ω, featuring Class D amplification and internal digital signal processing. Each of its two channels has independent gain control, whilst stereo, parallel and bridge modes allow you to adapt its operation to suit your system. With its balanced XLR inputs, Speakon outputs and speaker terminals, it integrates easily into a professional sound system setup.
Presentation
In terms of operation, you have two independent channels with 21-position gain control in 1 dB steps. The selector switch on the rear panel allows you to choose between stereo, parallel and bridge modes, and the input sensitivity can be set to 0.775 V, 1.2 V or 32 dB. The balanced XLR inputs, Speakon outputs and speaker terminals cover the main connection requirements, with a male/female XLR output also allowing the signal to be looped through.
On the front panel, the ON, SIG, -12 dB, -3 dB, CLIP and PROT LEDs provide an immediate indication of the unit’s operating status and signal level. The CLIP indicator signals clipping, whilst PROT indicates that protection has been activated – two pieces of information that are particularly useful when used in a sound reinforcement system. The front and side ventilation must remain unobstructed to ensure the unit operates correctly, providing you with a versatile amplifier to manage your sound system effectively.
