The 6388 CORE+ delivers a clear and stable vocal sound, with an unobtrusive design tailored for the stage. With its supercardioid capsule, the DPA 6388 CORE+ head-worn microphone prioritises vocal intelligibility in environments where ambient noise, acoustic reflections or the risk of feedback complicate the broadcast, whilst maintaining a natural and consistent sound reproduction. Its Act armature, non-reflective PVD finish and adjustable fit combine to create a understated design, intended to remain unobtrusive throughout performances, without turning every adjustment into a minor technical ordeal.

Presentation
The 6388 CORE+ is a directional headband microphone designed to capture speech accurately in complex acoustic environments. Its supercardioid polar pattern ensures good separation between the voice and off-axis sound sources, which helps to minimise crosstalk and maintain a comfortable margin before feedback occurs, particularly when several sound sources are located nearby.
The capsule features an off-centre acoustic axis, with a maximum sensitivity deliberately offset from the physical axis of the boom arm. This design allows for slightly lateral positioning near the corner of the mouth, with reduced sensitivity to minor placement variations and a more consistent response across different wearing configurations.
The frequency response ranges from 100 Hz to 18 kHz, with a 1 dB boost at 14 kHz when the capsule is 3 cm from the source. This distance serves as the acoustic reference point designed to maintain a natural balance, as moving closer enhances the bass due to the proximity effect, whilst moving further away gradually attenuates it.
The Act housing incorporates the adjustment principle of the 4066 and 4088 models, with rounded behind-the-ear tips and redesigned contours to minimise pressure points. The reinforced clips stabilise the fit, whilst the downward routing of the cable at the junction with the ear hook reduces mechanical stress, ensuring the whole unit sits securely.
The construction is IP58-certified against moisture and dust, and features a repairable design intended to extend the microphone’s lifespan. The PVD finish also minimises its visual presence, whilst the transparent clips and cable management contribute to a discreet appearance, with just the right amount of technology to look professional without looking robotic.

When speaking to an audience with speakers positioned nearby, the 6388 CORE+ is ideal for a stage where the voice must remain clear despite several competing sound sources. Its supercardioid polar pattern ensures that the microphone focuses on the spoken word, with off-axis rejection that is particularly beneficial in set-ups prone to acoustic reflections and crosstalk.
The various variants allow the microphone to be adapted to the requirements of each installation, with 3 colours (Beige, Brown and Black), 2 sizes (Standard and Small), and 4 connector options (MicroLock, TA4F Mini-XLR, 3-pin and Mini-Jack).
These combinations result in 24 variants, making it easy to select the right option based on the equipment used, the desired appearance and installation preferences.
