The DPA 4099 CORE+ Loud SPL Violin embodies the new generation of microphones for stringed instruments developed by DPA. Designed to offer the highest possible fidelity, it captures every nuance of instrumental playing with a perfect balance of precision, warmth and clarity. Incorporating CORE+ technology, it has a wider dynamic range and a higher saturation threshold than previous versions, guaranteeing faithful reproduction both on stage and in the studio.
The 4099 CORE+'s pre-polarised condenser capsule is combined with a super-cardioid polar pattern for excellent isolation from surrounding instruments. Its frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a slight boost of +2 dB between 10 and 12 kHz, preserves the natural harmonics and rich timbre of the violin or viola. With a maximum SPL of 145dB peak, this model can handle the most powerful passages without distortion, while maintaining wide dynamic range and low background noise.
The VC4099 mounting system, included with this model, has been specially designed for plucked and bowed string instruments such as the violin, viola, mandolin and banjo. The clip provides a firm, stable and secure hold, while remaining easy to use. Its design allows one-handed assembly and disassembly, making it easy to switch from one instrument to another. The 140 mm gooseneck is flexible and stable, enabling the capsule to be positioned precisely and reproducibly, for consistent sound whatever the stage configuration.
DPA has also optimised the mechanical design of this model to enhance its robustness and improve mechanical isolation. Internal suspension reduces handling noise and vibration, while IP58 certification effectively protects the microphone from dust and moisture. The result is a reliable, durable and discreet tool, perfectly suited to both stage and studio.
