Static Microphone
The DPA 4099 CORE+ Loud SPL Double Bass is a supercardioid condenser microphone specially designed for accurate, natural double bass recording. Thanks to CORE+ technology, it offers an extended dynamic range and excellent resistance to high sound levels, up to 145 dB SPL peak, while preserving the harmonic richness of the instrument. Supplied with the BC4099 clip, it attaches securely to the underside of the bridge, ensuring optimum placement between fingerboard and bridge for a balanced, accurate sound.

Presentation
The DPA 4099 CORE+ Loud SPL Double Bass is designed to meet the precision and reliability demands of professional musicians and sound engineers. Heir to the famous 4099 series, this model incorporates CORE+ technology, which improves the dynamic range by 10 dB and raises the saturation threshold by 3 dB compared with the previous generation. This increase in performance means that the recording is cleaner, more transparent and more faithful to the natural sound of the double bass.
The microphone is based on a pre-polarised condenser capsule combined with a supercardioid pattern, guaranteeing excellent isolation of the instrument and effective rejection of ambient sound. The frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a slight boost of +2 dB around 10 to 12 kHz, providing a balanced reproduction of the sound spectrum - from deep, accurate bass to upper harmonics. Thanks to its robustness, the 4099 CORE+ Loud SPL can handle up to 145 dB SPL peak without audible distortion, making it ideal for both acoustic recording and live amplification.
The included BC4099 mounting system has been specially developed for double basses. It attaches directly to the E and G strings under the bridge, positioning the microphone in the ideal zone between the fingerboard and the bridge. This placement guarantees a natural, homogeneous sound reproduction, while providing effective mechanical isolation. The clip is designed to provide a secure grip without risk to the instrument, with soft, non-slip contact points that protect the varnish and strings.
The discreet, lightweight microphone body features a 140 mm gooseneck for precise adjustment of the pick-up angle. Its internal suspension and redesigned body considerably reduce handling noise and vibrations, ensuring a stable sound even during energetic performances. IP58 certification effectively protects the system against moisture and dust, making this model perfectly suited to touring and demanding stage conditions.
With the 4099 CORE+ Loud SPL Double Bass, DPA offers a highly versatile recording tool that reproduces the depth and warmth of acoustic sound without artificial coloration or compression. Its modular design allows it to be used with a variety of wireless systems via DPA MicroLock adapters (not included), making it a preferred choice for both classical musicians and live bassists.
