Studio Monitors

Dynaudio Core 47 Left, 3-way active studio monitor. Left model.

ARTICLE N° 73124
Studio professionals can rely on the mixes made with these top-of-the-range Dynaudio speakers and don't have to worry about listening fatigue.

Everything that was recorded (including flaws) is there, so you can make the best mixing decisions.

Core 47 is the mid-sized model in the new flagship series of professional reference monitors.
Our engineers have given it the code name 'Bulldog'. You'll understand why when you hear them!

The sound delivered by the Core 47s is perfectly coherent and the balance doesn't change according to the volume.

The DSPs offer 3 possible settings to adapt to your studio:
- Anechoic, when monitors are placed on monitor stands in sufficiently soundproof rooms (such as recording studios and film dubbing sets),
- Desk, when placed on a workstation or above the VU meters of a console
- Soffit, when mounted in properly designed wall soffits as part of an overall architectural acoustic design.
Next, you can define boundary filters that compensate for the positioning of monitors close to walls or in corners, where the monitor can cause resonance frequencies in the low frequencies.

In short, the Core 47 is an uncompromisingly professional three-way monitor. It offers the best modern DSP-optimised performance and very comfortable power handling.
  • Dynaudio Core 47 Left
  • 7" bass driver, identical to that of the Core 7, but delivering more power because it delivers mid-range frequencies from 475 Hz (covered by the 4" driver).
  • 4" midrange driver made from exclusive MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) material for a perfect balance between lightness, rigidity and damping, and combined with an aluminium voice coil and neodymium magnet system, it offers incredibly fast response and absolute control
  • Esotar Pro 1" tweeter with internal Hexis dome for quality spatiality, detailed transients and natural high-frequency response without prolonged hearing fatigue
  • Class D Pascal amplification (digital): 500 + 500 + 150 W
  • Frequency response: 44 to 27000 Hz ±3 dB, 37 to 31000 Hz ±6 dB
  • Maximum level: 112 dB (1 m in anechoic chamber, 118 dB for half-space measurement)
  • DSP technology from the Air series, improved and simplified to adapt the monitor to the listening environment: automatic optimisation adapted to your acoustic environment with 3 parameters (Anechoic, Desk and Soffit)
  • Filters: with the filter set to 'Dark', the entire frequency response is tilted slightly to give an attenuation of -1.5dB at 20kHz and an increase of +1.5dB at 20Hz; with the 'Bright' setting, the tilt is reversed (+1.5dB at 20kHz and -1.5dB at 20Hz). Unlike typical Shelve EQ settings, this light filter maintains the appropriate phase response between speakers while providing the tonality that suits you.
  • Sensitivity: from 0 dBu to + 24 dBu to match the input to the output level of your source
  • 24-bit/192 kHz converter
  • Crossover frequencies: 475 Hz and 5.25 kHz to ensure that your mixing decisions about vocal balance and dialogue subtleties are well-informed
  • Calibrated to less than 0.2 dB at the Dynaudio factory in Denmark
  • VESA mounting possible
  • Analogue input: XLR
  • Digital input: AES
  • Digital output: AES
  • Word Clock: BNC
  • USB port for service
  • Rigid, inert enclosure, so that all vibratory energy is directed as it should be
  • Extra-thick 44 mm front panel for better linearity across the entire spectrum and easier placement
  • Dimensions (W x H x D): 390 x 240 x 355 mm
  • Weight: 15.1 kg
Left model only.
For stereo listening, consider buying the right-hand model as well.
Core 47s are marked 'left' and 'right', but the position of the tweeter depends on your room.
The Core 47 can be used with the tweeters facing inwards or outwards, depending on the room and listening position.

When using the AES digital inputs, there are two settings: one to determine which channel (L or R) of the AES stream is used for this monitor and another to determine the maximum output sound pressure level. If you want the maximum sound pressure level at the output, set this value to 112 dB (maximum peak sound pressure of 124 dB for a semi-anechoic pair). If you work mainly at lower volumes, choose a lower SPL setting to optimise the bit resolution of the AES input for best linearity. When using the AES input, the Core 47 DSP operates at the incoming sample rate and locks to the incoming AES clock or word clock to keep the signal as accurate as possible. This means that if you're working at 48kHz, for example, you can send the signal directly to your monitors at 48kHz.

Unlike our competitors, there is no sample rate conversion. You give it 192, it does 192.
