Epiphone and Gibson Custom have teamed up again to create the 1963-inspired Firebird I – an authentic replica of the guitar designed by legendary automobile designer Ray Dietrich. When it launched in 1963, the Firebird was Gibson’s first neck-through model, and it went on to be used by a wide range of musicians, including blues legend Johnny Winter, Keith Richards and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, to name a few.
Presentation
Its unique Gibson USA Firebird Mini Humbucker pickup is equipped with Alnico 5 magnets. It provides a balanced acoustic palette.
The mids are clear and the highs defined. They highlight an excellent contrast for expressive leads.
The rhythms benefit from increased dynamism. This is due to well-articulated bass.
The 9-ply mahogany and walnut through-body neck reinforces stability. This design maximizes the transmission of vibrations and the sustain of the notes.
The 1963 Firebird profile and 24.75" scale length ensure pleasant playability. The Indian laurel fingerboard has a 12-inch radius. It facilitates smooth bends and precise control of chords.
The Heather Poly color seduces with its originality. This aesthetic choice stands out from more classic options. This color combines a retro and refined appearance. Under the spotlight, it highlights the unique contours of the Firebird.
The inverted design of its mahogany body is an important element. This shape directly influences the overall balance of the instrument.
It provides a natural grip. It prevents any imbalance when standing. The slim silhouette of the body increases the pleasure of playing.
The Kluson "Banjo-style" Planetary tuners are functional in addition to being aesthetic. Coupled with the Graph Tech nut, they guarantee a stable tuning.
The Wraparound Lightning Bar bridge optimizes contact with the strings. It increases vibration transmission.
A Hardshell Case is included in the package for seamless protection.
