The Gibson Hummingbird Standard Rosewood Rosewood Burst has its roots in Bozeman, featuring a Hummingbird design tailored for folk music. Its solid rosewood back and sides enclose a Sitka spruce top, enhanced by a Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish.

The mahogany neck features a rounded profile and a scale length of 24.75 inches (628.65 mm), extending into an Indian rosewood fingerboard with a radius of 12 inches (304.80 mm). The 20 frets are paired with a 43.82 mm (1.73 inch) TUSQ nut and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays, ensuring natural playability and excellent readability.

Beneath the bridge, the L.R. Baggs VTC faithfully reproduces the vibrations of the top. Its volume and tone controls, discreetly integrated into the soundhole, allow you to fine-tune the sound before it reaches the 6.35 mm jack output.

The Bozeman construction combines a composite dovetail joint, assembled using heated hide glue, with a traditional, hand-carved X-brace. The reverse rosewood bridge, TUSQ pegs and gold-plated Grover Rotomatic tuners extend this attention to detail down to the very finest points.

The 1.52 mm tortoiseshell pickguard, adorned with Hummingbird graphics, adds its signature visual touch to the top, whilst the Gibson logo and mother-of-pearl crown, enhanced by the gold-plated hardware, assert its character. Strung with .012, .016, .024, .032, .042 and .053 strings, it lends itself naturally to folk playing and fits neatly into its Gibson hard case for travelling.

Since 1960, the Hummingbird has held a unique place at Gibson: it was the first square-shouldered acoustic guitar in the range. Its bird-patterned pickguard has become a recognisable visual signature. Artists such as Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Thom Yorke and Tom Petty have played it over the decades. This continuity between visual identity, American heritage and technical evolution explains the enduring affection for this model across several generations.

- The Hummingbird introduced the Square Shoulder body style to Gibson’s range in 1960.

- Its body features a rosewood back and sides, with a Sitka spruce top.

- The hand-carved X-bracing echoes traditional Gibson design.

- The L.R. Baggs VTC under the bridge provides built-in amplification with volume and tone controls at the soundhole.

- The Hummingbird tortoiseshell pickguard retains one of the model’s historic visual hallmarks.
