Hagstrom - Adina Purple Burst

The Hagstrom Adina Purple Burst is a 6-string electric guitar that makes you want to think outside the box. Its asymmetrical double-cutaway body, Canadian maple top and flamed maple veneer give it a real visual personality, with the black pickguard further enhancing the contrast. But the Adina really comes into its own when you start playing: its pickup configuration allows you to switch from a warm, grainy tone to a much crisper response, depending on the position you choose.

The P-50 neck pickup, in the P-90 style, delivers that full, warm tone that’s ideal for chords, melodic lines or clean tones that need to retain their character. At the other end of the spectrum, the Custom 60 humbucker at the bridge delivers more volume and punch for riffs and distorted tones. And when you fancy lightening the tone, the tone control’s push/pull switch allows you to split the humbucker and achieve tones closer to a single-coil pickup. So you have several ways to shape the sound without switching guitars.

The bolt-on Canadian maple neck delivers a lively response, with more attack and that snappy feel associated with bolt-on constructions. The 25.5" scale length ensures good playing precision, whilst the 15" Resinator™ fingerboard and 22 medium-jumbo frets provide a comfortable playing surface for moving from chords to melodies or playing higher up the neck. At just 19 mm thick at the first fret and 20.5 mm at the twelfth, the neck also remains fairly slim.

Finally, the Hagstrom Wrap-Around bridge makes its own contribution: string vibrations are transmitted to the body via a simple yet effective design, featuring wide-range saddles for precise intonation adjustment. The Adina Purple Burst is therefore the perfect choice when you want a guitar capable of shifting from a warm, vintage sound to something more biting, whilst retaining a distinct personality.
