Hiwatt's Super-Hi 50 is an amp head designed for guitarists who want a massive, precision-driven sound. Behind its classic appearance lies a real concentrate of gain, designed to meet the needs of musicians who play in low tunings or on guitars with extended strings.
Mike Fortin, renowned for his radical approach to metal sound, was involved in its design, and you can feel it from the very first chords: the saturation is rich, but each string remains perfectly legible.
The amp has two channels, each controlled by an independent volume. It's a practical solution for switching quickly between heavy rhythm patterns and a more open sound for solos.
The three-band EQ, combined with the presence control, offers a wide playing field for shaping the character of the sound. This means you can adapt the amp to different playing styles, from massive riffs to more airy textures.
The heart of this amp is a carefully selected set of tubes: four ECC83 preamps and two EL34 power amps.
The 'Super-Hi Boost' function adds an extra gain stage, allowing you to go even further into saturation, without losing control or signal clarity. Even at high volume, the bottom end of the spectrum remains firm and defined.
Hand-built in the Custom Shop in the UK, the Super-Hi 50 embodies the Hiwatt tradition of solid materials and original specification transformers.
