The KSD A200 MK2 presents itself as a benchmark three-way studio monitor, offering a compact solution for extremely accurate nearfield and midfield listening. At the heart of its design, FIRTEC™ technology ensures a linear phase response across the entire spectrum. This advanced processing ensures that all frequencies reach the listener simultaneously, providing a sound image of rare coherence and accuracy, an indispensable asset for sound engineers during the critical recording, mixing and mastering phases.

The acoustic section of the A200 MK2 benefits from a new mid-high unit. This combines a 3-inch midrange dome and a 1-inch fabric/silk tweeter, housed in an aluminium waveguide. This ingenious configuration creates a homogenous, wide sound field, allowing the monitor to be used flexibly in a vertical or horizontal position without degrading sound performance. The waveguide also contributes to the linearisation of the frequency response, in synergy with digital signal processing. Low frequencies are reproduced with power and depth thanks to a high-performance 10-inch woofer, capable of going down to 28 Hz.

The on-board electronics are just as sophisticated. Direct Digital Drive (DDD) technology is a striking feature, using a converterless connection with three dedicated PWM power amplifiers (250W for the bass, 250W for the midrange and 150W for the treble in RMS). This direct digital approach eliminates losses and potential colourations from the converter stages, delivering exceptional sonic resolution and authenticity. Amplifiers and power supplies are meticulously designed for minimum distortion and maximum sonic clarity.

In terms of connectivity and control, the A200 MK2 offers analogue (+4dBu) and digital XLR inputs in AES3 format, supporting signals of up to 24 bits / 192 kHz. Signal processing is carried out within a powerful FPGA, incorporating FIRTEC filters, a limiter, six user equalisers, treble and bass shelving filters, a delay and a gain control. Shelf filters, directly accessible on the amplifier, allow rapid adaptation to room acoustics. For even finer adjustment, the optional KSD-RC remote control gives access to additional settings, including the six user EQs, volume and delay. The monitor also offers direct control of listening volume, ensuring a lossless digital link from a full-scale main output.
