Marcus Miller also made history as a much sought-after studio musician in the 1980s. He has played on hundreds of albums, particularly in the pop and R&B genres, collaborating with artists such as Luther Vandross and Aretha Franklin. This versatility has enabled him to move easily from jazz to funk and soul.
He is known for developing signature basses with Sire, designed to reproduce his clear, percussive sound. Several of his solo albums, such as M², have won him Grammy Awards. On tour, he leads an international band where every concert leaves plenty of room for improvisation and groove.
