Electric Guitar Effects
MXR's Jail Guitar Doors Drive has been designed as a tribute to the late Wayne Kramer (MC5) to recreate the raw, abrasive distortion sound of the era, combining two separate gain circuits - Daredevil Pedals' Drive-Bi Dual Gain and MXR's Micro Amp, which work in cascade for a powerful roar. Beyond its sonic performance, the purchase of this limited edition pedal has a significant philanthropic benefit, as a majority of the proceeds go directly to the Jail Guitar Doors USA charity, co-founded by Wayne Kramer, which uses music to rehabilitate incarcerated people.

Presentation
MXR's Jail Guitar Doors Drive is an overdrive designed to reproduce the raw, authentic sounds that made MC5, and Wayne Kramer in particular, legendary. This all-in-one stompbox combines two cascading gain circuits, the Drive-Bi Dual Gain Distortion and MXR's Micro Amp, to deliver a rich, dense saturation, full of harmonics, evoking the rough grain of two 100W stacks pushed to the limit.
Its operation remains true to the spirit of rock, with a single gain/volume potentiometer to control both stages, making it practical and straightforward to quickly adjust the output live or in the studio. Thanks to its analogue circuit and true bypass, the signal remains pure and transparent when the effect is inactive.
The connection is classic (1/4" jack inputs and outputs), the high input impedance (450 kΩ) ensures compatibility with most guitars, and the 25 kΩ output prepares a solid signal for the amp or effects chain. In short, this pedal embodies the spirit of Detroit rock: minimalist, efficient, incisive.
It offers expressive saturation, ideal for percussive rhythms or saturated solos, without unnecessary complexity. For a pro looking to inject some vintage, punchy character into the sound, whether in the studio, on stage or in rehearsal, it's a credible and immediate tool.
