With the Centavo Mod effects pedal, Warm Audio offers a faithful recreation of the Centaur circuit, with Gain, Treble and Output controls that cover a range from subtle boost to grainy saturation.
The circuit utilises TL072 operational amplifiers, vintage-style diodes, carbon and metal-film resistors, and a charge-pump regulator. This selection of components promotes a dynamic and precise response, with sufficient headroom to preserve the guitar’s definition when the output level drives an amp that is already running at high gain.
The MOD switch on the rear panel represents a notable evolution from the historic circuit reproduced here. Activating it extends the response at the lower end of the spectrum and boosts the presence of the lower strings, broadening the possibilities when using different guitars. The Centavo Mod thus transitions from a clean boost to a fuller-bodied overdrive, with additional control over the low-end range without altering the three main controls.
The Centavo Mod also retains the essential feel of the original Centavo in a design intended for everyday use on a pedalboard. Warm Audio also carries out manual checks and inspections by its technicians in Austin.
