The MXR Mr. Talkbox effects pedal creates a unique interface between your instrument and your voice, channelled through the tube, with a design tailored to guitarists and keyboardists seeking an expressive talkbox effect for live performances, studio work or sound design.
Its 25 W amplifier and neodymium magnet speaker deliver rich bass response, with greater dynamic headroom to preserve the density of the notes and improve the definition of vowels and consonants, even as your playing gains in intensity and sonic depth.
The Volume, Tone and Gain controls allow you to shape the effect’s presence and character, with progressive saturation as the gain increases. The Gain Bypass switch bypasses the preamp and clipping diodes to maintain a cleaner signal path, which is also suitable for keyboardists using high-level signals or guitarists wishing to utilise their own pedalboard.
The Mute switch expands mixing possibilities by separating the signal sent to the valve from that sent to the amp output, allowing, in particular, for a smooth transition between passages with and without the effect.

For funk or R&B, the effect works best when combined with a phaser pedal placed upstream, creating additional movement around the vowels articulated by the tube. This combination opens up a more dynamic sonic palette, with a distinct electronic character.
Using it in a pedal stack can also accentuate the talk box’s character, particularly thanks to the Gain Bypass, which allows the signal to bypass the internal gain stage. This configuration allows for a more personalised approach to processing, whilst retaining the sonic characteristics already shaped by the effects placed upstream.
