Novation - FLpad Mini
At last, a Launchpad Mini for FL Studio: the Novation FLpad Mini, which packs the key creative functions of Fruity Loops Studio into a mini MIDI controller with 64 RGB pads. Developed in collaboration with Image-Line, it allows you to trigger samples from the Channel Rack, programme up to four instruments simultaneously, build patterns, play rhythms and melodies, and even edit the Graph Editor.
Presentation
Its 8 × 8 grid comprises 64 RGB pads and forms the main workspace. It allows you to select and trigger elements from the Channel Rack, programme rhythmic patterns and build sequences with up to four instruments simultaneously. The colours make it easier to identify the various elements used in the project and allow you to find the tracks or sequences you’re currently working on more quickly.
Note mode transforms the grid into a performance interface for melodic instruments. Notes can be organised chromatically or according to the chosen scale, allowing you to work on melodies, basslines and chord progressions. Specific configurations are also available for FPC, Slicex and Fruity Slicer.
The FLpad Mini also provides access to FL Studio’s editing and organisation functions. The grid can be used to control the Graph Editor, whilst Channel Rack Mixer mode allows the pads to be used as level controls. Dedicated buttons allow you to navigate between pages and functions, and to manage playback, recording, undoing or redoing actions, tempo and the Score Log.
Customisation is handled via Novation Components, which enables you to create set-ups tailored to other software or MIDI equipment. The controller thus retains a degree of versatility beyond its native integration with FL Studio.
The FLpad Mini comes with six months’ access to FL Studio Producer Edition, as well as a range of instruments, effects and additional content. Melodics lessons dedicated to finger drumming are also included.
