Novation - LaunchKey 49 MK4 White
Novation's Launchkey 49 White is a master keyboard that combines minimalist aesthetics with formidable functionality to control your DAW with fluidity. Designed to blend in naturally with your musical environment, this immaculate white controller turns your desk into a creative cockpit. With 49 semi-weighted waterfall-style keys, 16 velocity-sensitive pads with polyphonic aftertouch, rotary encoders, faders and an OLED display, it lets you compose, perform and experiment at any time. Onboard Chord and Scale modes, a revamped arpeggiator, extended compatibility with major STANs and MIDI DIN output ensure remarkable versatility, whether you're a home studio enthusiast or a more adventurous live performer. Compact, expressive, and as at home with Ableton as it is with Logic or your vintage synths, this keyboard masters technique as well as style.
Presentation
With 49 semi-weighted keys and a waterfall feel, this keyboard has a natural feel, neither too hard nor too soft, perfect for exploring the subtlety of a piano line or the energy of a beefy synth bass. Its sixteen FSR pads with polyphonic aftertouch let you shuffle your virtual drums, launch your Ableton clips or attempt a finger drumming solo without shaking a muscle.
The Launchkey 49 White excels above all in its integration with STANs. Whether you're an Ableton, Logic, FL Studio or Cubase fan with a family tradition, you can control the mixer, instruments, effects and even timelines like a digital conductor. Its eight rotary encoders and nine assignable faders adapt to your workflow. And with the OLED screen, even your messed-up chords are proudly displayed thanks to the Chord Detector. A good excuse to say "that was on purpose".
Scale and Chord modes are the best friends of improvisers who want to avoid mistakes along the way. With over 30 scales available, you'll never play a note in the wrong place again. Want to control everything without lifting a finger? The Components software lets you customise everything from faders and pads to transport buttons. Everything can even be saved in the Launchkey for totally autonomous use, without a computer. It's almost like MIDI telepathy.
The 5-pin DIN MIDI output is for those who like to plug in real gear, with real cables, and a bit of sweat. Connected to a hardware synth or drum machine, the Launchkey 49 White becomes a control centre. And with its iOS compatibility, it'll also follow you on the move, to cafés or sessions on the sofa.

Tip: combine it with a compact audio interface like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or a Bass Station II synth to create a highly effective mobile mini-studio.
Fun fact: with Chord Maps, you can invent a random chord progression that sounds great without ever knowing what you're playing. Magical... and slightly creepy.
