Under the Novation reputation gained in the past, especially with the SL range, the SL Mk II are extremely robust and solid keyboards that fear neither long studio sessions or playing on stage. More importantly, they were designed in every detail to maximize workflow.

More than a controller, it is the integration of a control surface with a quality semi heavy keyboard with aftertouch (manufactured by Fatar) which, combined with Automap 3 Pro, in fact the most advanced control solution of the market.

Under the Novation reputation gained in the past, especially with the SL range, the SL Mk II are extremely robust and solid keyboards that fear neither long studio sessions or playing on stage. More importantly, they were designed in every detail to maximize workflow.

The difficulty with most other control surfaces is knowing who is assigned to what. The SL Mk II has an ultra-bright LCD screen that displays all the names and values of the parameters for the selected row of controllers. The 8 faders and 16 knobs are touch sensitive, touch one, and the screen now displays the names and values of the row that owns the affected controller, and even tells you which controller you touch by displaying brackets around the name parameter. This allows to know the assigned parameter and its value without changing the value, or to look in the software. The SL Mk II also has the Speed Dial which allows to change the parameter value below the mouse cursor without prior summons.

8 rotary encoders are all surrounded by 11 LEDs, allowing encoders to behave like potentiometers, LEDs displaying the value of the assigned parameter, convenient to view a value before the change. All buttons are illuminated, which also allows to know their state without touching them. There are also 8 drum pads, adjustable pitch / modulation and an XY touchpad, with footswitch and sustain pedal inputs are all assignable via the Automap software.

The SL Mk II has been designed to consume the least amount of current to be used without power connected directly via USB, an optional AC adapter can be used for stand-alone use. In addition to USB, the SL Mk II has a MIDI input, a MIDI Thru output and two MIDI outputs.
All models in the SL Mk II come with the Pro version of Automap 3.
