Novation - Launchkey 88 MK4
88-key semi-weighted keyboard, velocity-sensitive pads, endless knobs, faders, pitch bend and modulation wheels, OLED display, etc. – Novation’s Launchkey 88 MK4 master keyboard offers a comprehensive range of physical controls and musical functions designed to enhance every stage of the creative process. One idea springs to mind, another follows almost immediately; the keyboard keeps up the pace without needing a coffee break, which is rather welcome during a long day of composing.
Presentation
The Chord and Scale modes, along with the arpeggiator, expand your compositional possibilities, whilst the Chord Detector instantly displays the chords you’re playing on the OLED screen, making it easier to keep track of them whilst you work.
Ideas flow more naturally, and hesitant passages sometimes take an unexpected turn that’s well worth a few extra bars.
Thanks to its 88 semi-weighted keys, it provides a response suited to both delicate passages and more forceful attacks, without compromising on the precision of nuances.
Its 16 velocity-sensitive pads also feature polyphonic aftertouch, allowing you to control drum kits, virtual instruments, clips or pad matrices with excellent responsiveness.
Each control is laid out logically, making it easy to navigate between different functions – which sometimes saves you from having to perform digital acrobatics worthy of a pianist with 12 hands.
The full set of physical controls allows you to move quickly from one idea to another, with a continuity of play that remains fluid even when changing musical direction.
The customisable controls can store several distinct configurations, allowing you to quickly recall a setup suited to different musical projects without having to start from a virtually blank slate every time
The built-in tools encourage a more dynamic approach to music production, where each control acts as a direct access point to production elements, without the need for lengthy navigation through software menus.
