Sennheiser - EW-D SK (R1-6)

The Sennheiser EW-D SK (R1-6) is a digital UHF pocket transmitter designed to integrate with an Evolution Wireless Digital system. It is equally suitable for singers and musicians, as well as presenters, speakers, teachers and event professionals seeking a reliable and easy-to-use wireless connection.

UHF digital transmission eliminates the noise, interference and static associated with analogue systems. Sennheiser specifies a 24-bit audio resolution and a dynamic range of 134 dB, ensuring that detail is preserved in both quiet sources and performances with significant variations in volume. With a latency of just 1.9 ms, the EW-D SK delivers a particularly natural sound reproduction, suitable for both vocal and musical applications.

This R1-6 version operates in the 520 to 576 MHz frequency range. It must be paired with an Evolution Wireless Digital receiver operating within a compatible frequency range. The EW-D system also offers a bandwidth of 56 MHz and up to 2,240 frequencies, with the option to use up to 90 channels within this bandwidth depending on the configuration.

The EW-D Smart Assist app, accessible via Bluetooth Low Energy, simplifies the configuration, control and monitoring of the system. Automated functions facilitate, in particular, the selection and synchronisation of frequencies to reduce the risk of interference and minimise the number of manual steps required.

The all-metal housing offers the robustness expected for professional use, whilst its compact dimensions of just 63 × 80 × 20 mm and weight of 120 g (excluding batteries) make it easy to carry on stage or whilst on the move. The transmitter can be powered by two AA batteries (not included) or by the BA 70 rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Sennheiser states a battery life of up to 8 hours with AA batteries and up to 12 hours with the rechargeable battery pack.
