Sennheiser - EW-D EM (U1/5)

The Sennheiser EW-D EM (U1/5) is the fixed receiver for the Evolution Wireless Digital wireless microphone system, designed to work with the bodypack and handheld transmitters in the EW-D range. Its 1/2 19" rack-mount format allows it to be easily integrated into a professional installation, whilst maintaining a compact footprint.

EW-D digital transmission technology combines a reliable UHF link with 24-bit audio resolution, a dynamic range of up to 134 dB and a latency of just 1.9 ms. This low latency helps to maintain a natural and immediate feel during vocal or instrumental performances. Sennheiser also states that the frequencies are evenly spaced to reduce the risk of intermodulation interference.

The U1/5 version, identified by the manufacturer’s reference 508806, operates in the 823.2 to 831.8 MHz and 863.2 to 864.8 MHz bands. It has a bandwidth of 56 MHz and can offer up to 2,240 frequencies, with up to 90 channels depending on the system configuration.

Set-up and operation are simplified by the EW-D Smart Assist app. In particular, this app facilitates commissioning, monitoring and troubleshooting, whilst the frequency management algorithms automate part of the selection and synchronisation process. This approach makes the system accessible to both experienced users and teams seeking a quick installation.

The receiver features an all-metal construction and comes with the accessories required for rack mounting. It is therefore a suitable solution for concerts, shows, conferences, presentations, places of worship, event productions and other professional applications requiring a reliable digital wireless microphone link.
