Designed for live vocal performances, the Sennheiser MMD 945-1 BK combines a dynamic capsule with a supercardioid polar pattern that is particularly effective at preventing feedback. Its consistent polar pattern ensures effective isolation from other sound sources, whilst its uniform on- and off-axis response helps to maintain a natural vocal sound, even in high-volume live settings.
Presentation
Its supercardioid polar pattern is one of its key strengths. It effectively isolates the voice from other sound sources on stage whilst offering very good feedback rejection. This feature is particularly useful when monitor levels are high or when several instruments and microphones are used simultaneously.
The MMD 945-1 BK also benefits from a uniform on- and off-axis response. Variations in timbre caused by the singer moving in front of the capsule are thus better controlled, helping to maintain consistent vocal reproduction throughout the performance.
With a frequency response of 40 Hz to 18 kHz, a sensitivity of 1.8 mV/Pa according to Sennheiser’s current product specifications, and the ability to handle up to 154 dB SPL as per the technical data sheet, this capsule is ideally suited to professional vocal applications.
