The Shure SM7B is a large-capsule dynamic microphone with a smooth, flat, full-range frequency response that enhances the mids and highs associated with the human voice. This is why the SM7B comes out particularly well on spoken and sung voices in many professional audio applications.
The Shure SM7 B features a cardioid pick-up pattern, bass roll-off and midrange boost (presence amplification), as well as shielding that makes it immune to electromagnetic radiation from mobile phones, computers and other electrical devices.
In terms of sound, the SM7B licks the low frequencies with elegance, offering a very rich, clean, perfectly balanced and completely natural sound. The midrange comes out neutral, with little or no coloration, and the highs are smooth and transparent.
The capsule of the Shure SM7B is uncoupled by an internal suspension, which eliminates the transmission of mechanical and handling noise. A pop filter is also built into the SM7B to suppress breath noise when recording at close range.
