Teenage Engineering - OB-4 White

Beneath its minimalist design, the Teenage Engineering OB-4 White speaker features a 2 + 2 stereo acoustic configuration, powered by two 38 W Class D amplifiers. Its neodymium magnet drivers, featuring ferrofluid-cooled tweeters, work in conjunction with an optimised bass-reflex port to deliver natural bass and precise treble. The frequency response of 52 to 25,000 Hz reflects an ambitious design for a portable speaker weighing just 1.7 kg.

For listening without having to stay near a power socket, this white Bluetooth speaker features a rechargeable battery offering up to 72 hours of FM radio playback at normal volume. When using Bluetooth at high volume, the claimed battery life is 8 hours – a feature that makes it ideal for travelling and extended listening sessions.

The motorised interface adds a unique dimension to sound control: the volume control and FM band dial allow you to select, scroll through and adjust playback with your fingers. Thanks to this touch-based approach, adjusting settings becomes a direct gesture, as intuitive as operating an old cassette player, whilst incorporating a good dose of modern technology.

The Orthoplay app expands the speaker’s capabilities through Bluetooth Low Energy volume control and the new features of Disk Mode. The Ambient, Karma, Metronome, Noise and Loop functions open up additional sonic possibilities.

Disk Mode offers a remarkable feature: playback records the sound being listened to on a virtual looping tape, allowing you to rewind, create loops or alter the temporal sequence. This approach is also ideal for listening to the radio, when a track deserves a second chance before its title disappears.

The mini-jack input expands the possibilities in the studio: a turntable, an instrument or any device with an audio output can be connected to the speaker. The metronome and loops in Disk Mode will also support rhythmic work and musical experimentation.
