The VOX AC15-HWR is for guitarists looking for a tube amp with a vintage character and expressive response. It follows the philosophy of the 60s models, with point-to-point wiring and a construction designed to enhance dynamics and nuances.

This model features a 12" Celestion Greenback driver. It's a choice consistent with the VOX sound identity: textured midrange, highs that are present but never aggressive, and a reasonable low end to avoid a boomy effect. With this speaker, the grain remains defined even when the amp is pushed, and the natural crunch arrives progressively without break-up.

The circuit is based entirely on tubes: 2 x EL84 in the power stage, a GZ34 in the rectifier, then 1 x 12AT7 and 4 x 12AX7 in the preamp. This arrangement creates a sensation of organic compression as soon as the volume rises, making the amp responsive to touch. Light playing remains clear, while a more assertive attack adds grit, bite and a natural sustain, typical of British amps.

The AC15-HWR features four inputs in two sections: Normal and Top Boost. The Top Boost channel includes Bass and Treble EQ, while the Tone Cut adjusts the overall character without compromising the signal's identity. The integrated reverb can remain discreet or become more present depending on the musical context.
