The Warwick Masterbuilt Corvette SS 5 LTD 2023 is clearly one of the brand's top-of-the-range models. Produced in Germany and limited to just 25 units worldwide, this 5-string bass is aimed at musicians looking for a rare, precise instrument built without compromise.

Its roasted swamp ash body, combined with a marbled ebony top, strikes an interesting balance between natural resonance, stability and rapid response. The Natural Oil Finish lets the wood breathe and maintains an organic feel that's equally pleasing when playing standing up or sitting down.

The screwed maple neck with ekanga reinforcement provides rigidity and regularity throughout the entire length of the 864 mm scale. The tiger ebony fingerboard, 508 mm radius and 24 jumbo brass frets all contribute to a fluid playing feel, with precise attacks and solid comfort for fast shots or harder lines. The Just-A-Nut III saddle makes it easy to fine-tune the instrument to suit the string tension used.

On the electronics side, there are two MM-format passive MEC pickups with brushed metal covers. Separate volume and tone controls for each pickup give a wide range of textures, from a deep, round sound for funk or groove, to more nervous registers for rock, fusion or the modern scene.

The two-piece Warwick bridge, Warwick tuners and security locks add to the overall stability. The bass comes in a handmade RockBag leather case, consistent with the level of finish on this exceptional instrument.
