The Yamaha P-S500 is a fun and versatile piano.
With its Stream Lights function and in conjunction with the Smart Pianist application, it shows you which notes to play, helping you learn to play the piano.

Simply connect the instrument to a tablet or smartphone and use the dedicated Smart Pianist app for easy access to all the possibilities offered by the instrument.
You can also take advantage of features that help you learn and play, such as displaying automatically generated sheet music based on your favourite songs.

Red and blue lights above each key tell you which notes to play and when. This extraordinary feature helps you learn to play without ever having learned to read music, making learning more fun than ever!

The P-S500 features piano sounds sampled from the exceptional Yamaha CFX concert grand piano and the famous Bösendorfer Imperial Viennese grand piano. These piano samples give you two of the finest and most fabulous concert grand pianos in the world.

On a grand piano, the entire body of the instrument resonates to produce rich reverberations that envelop the listener. Not only do the strings that correspond to the notes played vibrate, but they also interact to cause other strings to resonate. This is one of the reasons why the sound of a piano is so complex and harmonically rich.
The P-S500's Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) technology faithfully reproduces the acoustic phenomena generated by a grand piano: it analyses and calculates the state of the different strings (free or muted) as a function of the notes played on the keyboard or the use of the pedals, and reproduces the resulting natural resonances in real time.

Binaural sampling technology uses a sampling process in which specific microphones, positioned in the ears of a mannequin, have been used to capture the sound of the piano as it is audible to the human ear.
This technology was chosen to recreate on the P-S500 the sound diffusion produced naturally by acoustic pianos. This gives pianists the impression of sitting in front of a real grand piano, even when playing through headphones.
The result is so natural and enveloping that you forget you're wearing headphones.
