Presentation
The Zildjian FX 17" El Sonido Multi-Crash Ride cymbal was developed in collaboration with percussionist Marc Quinones, renowned for his work with The Allman Brothers Band. It's part of Zildjian's FX series, designed to broaden the possibilities of playing in modern and hybrid contexts.
With its medium-thin thickness and high-gloss finish, it delivers a fast, expressive response. The attack remains clear, with an immediate openness that facilitates both straightforward accents and fuller effects. The transition between crash and ride is a natural one, so you can vary textures without changing instruments.
This cymbal easily finds its place in styles such as salsa, Latin jazz, jazz fusion and rock. It accompanies both sustained rhythmic patterns and more aerial phases, with present but controlled sustain. The sound spectrum remains legible, even in busy contexts.

To find out more...
Marc Quiñones is an American percussionist renowned for his work in Latin music and rock. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York, he grew up in a musical environment marked by Afro-Caribbean rhythms, salsa and jazz influences.
He quickly made a name for himself on the New York Latin scene, collaborating with a number of salsa artists before joining one of the genre's most emblematic groups: the Fania All-Stars. This experience put him at the heart of modern Latin music and reinforced his role as a versatile percussionist in great demand.
He then joined The Allman Brothers Band, a major American southern rock band. Here he brought a more colourful rhythmic dimension, integrating congas and Latin percussion into a world of rock and improvisation. His playing is distinguished by its precision, musicality and ability to adapt to very different styles without losing its identity.
Marc Quiñones is now recognised as a benchmark musician, capable of navigating between salsa, Latin jazz, rock and fusion with great fluidity, while retaining a strong rhythmic imprint.
