The Zildjian Wind Gong 40" Logo Gravé follows in the tradition of Chinese gongs used in orchestras and ensembles dedicated to working on timbre and dynamics. With its flat, rimless profile and slim B20 alloy construction, it responds immediately to the slightest movement and develops a particularly wide sound palette.
At low intensity, it generates a low, diffuse rumble that supports the lower registers of the orchestra without overpowering them. As the energy gradually increases, the sound opens up and evolves towards brighter textures, culminating in large, enveloping explosions. This ability to build sound over time makes it a central tool for crescendos and transitions.
Playing varies easily depending on the mallets or sticks used. Light strokes can bring out bell-like partials, while sharper attacks produce sweeping waves of sound, ideal for dramatic or immersive effects.
