Altamira - M01D Left Handed RN + Étui

The Altamira M01D Left Handed carries on the heritage of the great Selmer-Maccaferri guitars in a version designed for left-handed guitarists and built around a D-shaped rosette, also known as the D Hole or Grande Bouche. This type of configuration is one of the historic forms of gypsy jazz, and is still particularly appreciated for its full sound and rhythmic performance.

The history of this guitar dates back to the early 1930s, when French manufacturer Selmer teamed up with Italian guitarist and luthier Mario Maccaferri to create a series of acoustic guitars with an original design. Even after their collaboration ended, these instruments continued to evolve and gradually became inseparable from the world of Django Reinhardt.

The M01D Left Handed takes up this spirit with a solid European spruce top that delivers a fast attack and great chordal clarity. The rosewood back and sides add more depth and enrich the harmonic register.
