Presentation
The Altamira M30D EN takes its cue from traditional Selmer Gypsy guitars, and is inspired here by the D-hole design. This design is one of the elements that have marked the history of Gypsy jazz and are still sought after today for their sonic personality and acoustic presence.
In its historic form, dedicated to orchestras and steel-string playing, this type of guitar can be recognised by its wide body, distinctive lines and D-shaped rosette. There are also emblematic features such as the movable bridge, the 'moustache' markers on the top and a slightly domed top, designed to encourage responsiveness and projection.
The Altamira M30D EN retains this spirit, while at the same time boasting a modern construction focused entirely on musicality. Its solid European spruce top provides a fast attack and excellent chord definition. The rosewood back and sides enrich the register with greater depth and body, giving full scope to both rhythmic and more melodic phrases.
The mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, 670 mm pitch and 52 mm nut are all part of the traditional Manouche feel. Manouche swing, pompe, acoustic accompaniment, jazz improvisation or instrumental playing: the M30D EN recaptures the punchy, rumbling Manouche sound that has spanned generations. Its case makes it ready for both rehearsal and the stage.
