Presentation
The Altamira Vienna EN Replica is directly inspired by Johann Georg Stauffer, a major figure in nineteenth-century Viennese lutherie. This guitar reflects the aesthetics of instruments from the Romantic period, designed for more intimate, more nuanced playing, far removed from the logic of modern power. It's a very different approach, one that will appeal above all to guitarists drawn to Legnani, Mertz or the historical repertoire played on period instruments.
The Stauffer style can be identified here in a number of ways: more detailed bridge work, a construction designed for sonic finesse, and overall inspiration from the great Italian masters such as Giovanni Battista Fabricatore and Gaetano Vinaccia, whom Stauffer admired before developing his own language. The aim is clear: to rediscover an expressive guitar, capable of very fine, almost vocal nuances.
The solid spruce top provides a very direct and precise response, with clear articulation of the melodic lines. The bird's-eye maple back and sides reinforce this sensation of clarity and lightness of sound. The 622 mm pitch gives a softer tension, facilitating expressive playing, ornaments and the dynamic nuances typical of the Romantic repertoire.
This model has also been played by renowned performers such as Ricardo Gallen and Pavel Steidl, underlining its highly specialised focus. With its traditional French varnish finish and included gig bag, the Vienna Replica is clearly aimed at guitarists who want to explore a historical universe with true sonic and aesthetic coherence.
