ARTICLE N° 109926
The Arturia PolyBrute 12 marks a new era in analogue synthesizers. Fusing raw power with musical refinement, this 61-key FullTouch MPE 12-voice keyboard delivers an expressive and inspiring playing experience. This is the kind of instrument that doesn't just follow inspiration - it provokes it. And it all rests on a solid ash stand that's as elegant as it is robust.

With its two assertive analogue oscillators, enhanced by a modular noise generator, the PolyBrute 12 opens up a vast acoustic palette. The integrated mixer allows sources to be finely balanced before being routed to two legendary filters: the multi-mode Steiner-Parker and the 24dB low-pass Ladder with saturation. As a bonus, an FM filter provides unexpected modulations via oscillators or noise.

This synth is an ideas machine. Its 12 x 32 modulation matrix, capable of handling 64 connections, stimulates creativity. Three LFOs, three envelopes and a 64-step polyphonic sequencer are barely enough to channel the potential of the Motion Recorder and Morphée XYZ - the three-dimensional touchpad that transforms expressive control into sound choreography.

Where the PolyBrute 12 surprises is in the balance between digital and analogue. Three integrated digital effects slots shape spatial ambiences or sharpen audio in the mix. A fluid OLED screen, 768 memory locations and a reworked bank of 480 factory presets complete the package. For those who like to tinker, PolyBrute Connect, Companion and MIDI Control Center are included.

In terms of ergonomics, Arturia has hit the nail on the head. The FullTouch keyboard captures every nuance, thanks to full support for the MPE protocol. The touchscreen, spaced-apart pots and intuitive buttons let you sculpt the timbre in real time. Whether you're in the studio, on stage or in a home setup, the connectivity is complete: stereo outputs, headphones, expression pedals, MIDI Thru, USB-B and Sync in/out ports.

The included solid ash stand provides stability and playing comfort, while enhancing the instrument's visual impact. Carefully crafted, it combines Scandinavian aesthetics with rock-solid sturdiness. Once installed, the ensemble inspires as much as it imposes.

This pack is aimed at seasoned musicians, sound designers, composers for the image or stage artists looking for an inspiring nerve centre. It will also appeal to those who want to take a step forward with a top-of-the-range synth. At home, it becomes a source of exploration. In the studio, it's a beast of texture. On stage, it shines as brightly as you do.

A few words that define Arturia's PolyBrute12 (and an explanation for the noobs : )

- Polyphonic: Ability to produce several notes simultaneously.

- MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression): MIDI protocol that enables advanced polyphonic expression, offering independent control over each note.

- Raw: Generally used to describe a raw, powerful sound quality, often associated with analogue synthesizers.

- Morph: Smooth transitions between different waveforms or sound parameters (refers to the Greek god of sleep, Morpheus).

- Stereo: Sound reproduced with spatial separation, perceived through 2 channels (left and right).

- Ladder filter: A type of filter common in analogue synthesizers, popularized by Robert Moog, which attenuates or enhances certain frequencies in the sound signal.

- Steiner-Parker filter: A type of filter developed by Nyle Steiner and Tom Parker, offering distinct sonic characteristics.

- Modulation: Controlled change of sound parameters over time.

- Mod matrix: Interface for connecting different modulation sources (such as LFOs, envelopes, etc.) to different sound parameters.

- Ribbon: Tactile controller, often used to modulate different parameters on a synth.

- Sequencer: Used to create and control sequences of notes or sound parameters.

- Arpeggiator: A synth feature that automatically plays a sequence of notes in a predefined pattern.

- Analog: Technology using analogue electronics to create and manipulate sounds, as opposed to digital technology.
