Arturia - MicroFreak
Arturia's MicroFreak is a compact hybrid synthesiser combining digital oscillators and analogue filters for a unique sonic palette. Its 25-key flat keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch, 64-step sequencer and 5x7 modulation matrix make it a formidable creative tool. Ideal for both studio and live use, with built-in MIDI, USB and CV.
Presentation
Compact yet powerful, the MicroFreak combines wavetable and digital oscillators, offering a wide range of sound textures adaptable to many musical genres.
At the heart of this synthesizer is a 12dB Oberheim SEM multimode analogue filter, renowned for its ability to shape rich, dynamic sounds. Its flat 25-key keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch (PCB) adds a tactile dimension, allowing for greater expressivity and nuanced variations in playing.
MicroFreak also features a 64-step arpeggiator and sequencer, capable of managing up to 128 factory presets and 64 user presets. This programming flexibility allows musicians to recall their favourite sounds in seconds, perfect for live performances and studio sessions. The OLED display ensures smooth, clear navigation, making it easy to edit parameters in real time.
With a 5x7 modulation matrix, MicroFreak provides a robust platform for sound design enthusiasts to creatively modulate and transform sounds. In paraphonic mode, complex chords can be played, further enriching harmonic compositions.
The synthesizer features an advanced sequencer for creating patterns of up to 64 steps, with the option of storing two patterns per preset. It also incorporates the Plaits engine from Mutable Instruments, renowned for its sophisticated synthesis algorithms that open the door to in-depth sonic exploration.
For added dynamism, each preset can record four automation tracks, capturing parameter movements to add depth to sequences. In terms of connectivity, the MicroFreak has USB, MIDI and CV ports, as well as 6.35 mm and 3.5 mm headphone outputs, guaranteeing perfect integration into any configuration, whether in the studio or on stage.
Finally, MicroFreak can also be used as a MIDI controller, exploiting polyphonic aftertouch in other synthesis systems, making it a versatile tool for electronic music producers and live performers.
With its 12V DC power supply included, this synthesizer ensures stable, long-lasting use, meeting the needs of both professional and amateur musicians.
