Avantone Pro - CR-14

The Avantone CR-14 follows in the tradition of classic ribbon microphones, while incorporating design choices adapted to today's studio and stage constraints. Its sound signature is based on natural reproduction, with rich bass and precise definition in the midrange, complemented by high frequencies that are present but not aggressive. This combination produces balanced, faithful recordings that are easy to integrate into a mix.

The CR-14 uses a dual-ribbon architecture made of pure aluminium, offering greater sensitivity than many passive ribbon microphones. This configuration extends the useful pick-up area on both sides of the figure-8 polar pattern, simplifying microphone placement and improving pick-up coherency, particularly for wide sources or ambient stereo pick-ups.

Being entirely passive, the CR-14 requires no power supply, which eliminates any risk of electronic saturation or distortion linked to the active stage. It easily handles very high sound pressure levels, making it perfectly suited to guitar and bass amplifiers, drum overheads, brass instruments or high-level room sockets.

The mechanical design is an integral part of the product. The die-cast body and interwoven brass and steel grille effectively protect the ribbon, while ensuring excellent durability in professional use. The metallic cabernet red finish, characteristic of the Avantone series, is complemented by polished nickel elements for a clean, recognisable look.

The CR-14 comes complete with a retro-style shockmount, wooden presentation case, metal flight case and documentation, offering a complete solution ready for use in the studio or on the move.
