B&C Speakers - 12FW76 16 Ohm

With its 76mm voice coil, powerful ferrite system and 16 ohm impedance, the 12FW76 from B&C Speakers is aimed at sound engineers looking for an efficient loudspeaker in multi-driver or high-voltage powered configurations. It's a robust and versatile solution, ideal for fast bass, solid low midrange and even tight midrange applications in two- or three-way loudspeakers.

This model can handle up to 1000 W in programme, thanks to a carefully ventilated copper coil mounted on a fibreglass support, with a large winding depth (Xmax ±7 mm, Xvar extended to ±10 mm). The aluminium bowl provides a rigid structure, while the cone is held in place by a well-dimensioned fabric suspension.

The 100dB sensitivity maximises output even on low-power amps, and the high BL of 32.9 T-m ensures precise control of movement, even at high levels. The bandwidth of 51 Hz to 3000 Hz easily covers the need for fast bass and articulate low midrange, with a natural transition to a compression driver or tweeter.

A not inconsiderable addition is the aluminium demodulation ring integrated into the motor to lower the rate of harmonic distortion, particularly on fast transients and frequencies above 1 kHz. This technical detail improves reproduction, especially in systems with a wide dynamic range.

Designed for use in speakers of around 56 litres, tuned around 55 to 60 Hz, the 12FW76 is a reliable, balanced loudspeaker with a clean sound signature, very good dynamics and perfect compatibility with high-impedance passive systems.
