In the world of studio monitoring, certain components have become veritable historical references, and the NS-10 tweeter is clearly one of them. With the AV10 MHF Aged, Avantone is targeting users who are looking not only for mechanical compatibility, but above all for sonic fidelity to the best examples of the era, used for many years in the studio.

Rather than offering a new tweeter with a signature that is too rigid or too bright, Avantone has chosen a much more subtle route. The AV10 MHF Aged is based on the standard AV10 MHF tweeter, to which a proprietary texturing process is applied. This method does not involve artificially 'wearing out' the driver with aggressive cycles, but rather recreating in a controlled way the acoustic behaviour of a tweeter that has survived several decades of mixing sessions.

The result is a smoother, more coherent response at the top end of the spectrum, close to that of the mature NS-10M Studio. As a result, the tweeter delivers a precise but never excessive readout, ideal for analysing vocals, cymbals and critical elements of the mix, without the harshness sometimes associated with new, untested components.

The other major advantage of this approach is its durability. The texturisation process mechanically reinforces the suspension and dome, guaranteeing a stable sound signature over time. Unlike old tweeters salvaged from the second-hand market, the AV10 MHF Aged does not suffer from structural fatigue or weakened glue, while retaining a response that can be used immediately on installation.
