Presentation
The B&C Speakers FB464 V2 8 Ohm is a redesigned version to offer more control, more stability, and better compatibility with high-performance drivers like the DCX464 or DCX462. It retains the design of the highly acclaimed FB464, but with a few thoughtful adjustments that make all the difference in the field.
First, the original inductors have been replaced with components capable of handling a heavier load. This translates into better power handling when the system is running at high volume, without overheating or loss of efficiency.
Second, the bulb protection circuit has been removed. This is a deliberate choice, giving the user the freedom to manage the protections themselves via an external DSP. This improves flexibility and precision, and, above all, prevents the filter from imposing fixed limits on a potentially highly dynamic system.
The crossover frequency is set at 3.6 kHz, with a gentle but effective slope: 18 dB/octave for the treble and 12 dB/octave for the bass. This ensures a smooth transition between the two registers, without any hitches or annoying dips in the spectrum.
With its 105 x 137 mm format, it fits most two-way speakers on the market. Mounting is simplified thanks to the 4 mm holes distributed over a standard layout (127 x 95 mm).
Its role in the audio chain is fundamental. Whether for a touring system, a fixed installation, or a custom-built speaker, the FB464 V2 knows how to blend in while maintaining the signal firmly in place.
