Avantone Pro - AV10 MXO

In a monitoring system, the crossover filter is the point of balance between the loudspeakers. It determines phase coherence, the transition between bass and treble and, to a large extent, the overall signature of the loudspeaker. With the AV10 MXO, Avantone didn't just offer a compatible part: the aim was to faithfully recreate the electrical heart of the NS-10M system, while correcting its original mechanical and material weaknesses.

The AV10 MXO is the result of a complete reverse-engineering of the original crossover. The values of the components have been strictly preserved in order to respect the historical acoustic behaviour. The inductors reproduce exactly the characteristics of the original in terms of DC resistance, winding dimensions and value, guaranteeing an identical transition between the woofer and tweeter. The capacitors retain the same values as the original circuit, but benefit from materials and tolerances that are better suited to today's uses and increased longevity.

On the mechanical side, Avantone has made some concrete improvements. The rear panel is no longer made of plastic but of aluminium, offering greater rigidity and improved stability over time. Each crossover is supplied with a replacement gasket to ensure that the cabinet is perfectly sealed, an essential point for preserving the bass response and overall behaviour of the loudspeaker.

Installation has been designed to be as simple as possible. The AV10 MXO is a direct 'bolt-in' replacement, requiring no cabinet adjustments or special tools. The wires and lugs are already fitted, making replacement quick and safe. The terminal blocks have also been redesigned, with better quality connectors than the original, to ensure reliable, long-lasting contact with the speaker cable.
