The Boss BIC-5 is based on an engineer's conviction: cable neutrality is not an option, it's the starting point.
The custom-designed straight 6.35 mm jack connectors are not generic ferrules. Their internal geometry reduces micro-movements of the conductor in the socket - the usual source of intermittent false contacts on standard cables. The 24K gold-plated contacts block galvanic oxidation as early as the first night on a wet stage. Inside, the oxygen-free copper conductor carries the signal without parasitic resistance - the full spectrum of a semi-hollow guitar or fretless bass passes through intact, with no damping of the extremes. The robust braided shield isolates this conductor from the surrounding electromagnetic fields. The woven outer jacket withstands repeated bending without stiffening at the elbows.
