The Boss BIC-5 is based on an oxygen-free copper conductor whose purity of metal reduces contact resistance and preserves the integrity of high frequencies - the detail that gives a guitar chord its natural bite, a bass pick its definition in the background of a mix.
The construction is not cosmetic. The robust braided shielding forms an effective Faraday cage against electromagnetic interference from power supplies, neon lights and poorly insulated stage sockets.
