The Cayin CS-100CD Black combines a valve-based CD player with a Burr Brown PCM1792A DAC to deliver a melodious sound when playing your CDs and CD-Rs. Thanks to its USB-B input, it connects directly to a computer to decode digital audio streams up to 192 kHz. Its coaxial, optical and AES/EBU digital outputs allow it to be easily connected to an external DAC or an amplifier already fitted with a DAC, such as a home cinema amplifier.

The Cayin CS-100CD Black CD player combines a hybrid design featuring vacuum tubes with a solid-state DAC for playing audio CDs and CD-Rs. At the heart of the circuitry, the Texas Instruments Burr Brown PCM1792A chip handles the conversion of the 16-bit / 44.1 kHz PCM signal, complemented by 6922EH output tubes and a 12DT5 control tube, which lend a distinctive sonic character to the listening experience.
This player also features a USB-B input, allowing it to be connected to a computer to decode digital audio streams up to 192 kHz; as such, the CS-100CD Black also functions as a USB DAC.
In terms of connectivity, it offers S/PDIF coaxial, Toslink optical and AES/EBU digital inputs and outputs, as well as RCA and XLR line outputs. This versatility allows it to be paired with an external DAC or an amplifier already fitted with a DAC, such as a home cinema amplifier.
With a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, a dynamic range of 110 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB, the Cayin CS-100CD Black delivers impressive performance figures for a valve-based unit.
