The Cayin CS-100CD Silver combines a valve-driven CD player with a Burr Brown PCM1792A DAC to deliver refined musical reproduction from CDs and CD-Rs. Its USB-B input allows direct connection to a computer and supports decoding of audio streams up to 192 kHz. Presentation
The Cayin CS-100CD Silver is an audiophile CD player designed around a hybrid architecture combining modern digital conversion with a valve output stage. Compatible with Audio CDs and CD-Rs, it features a Texas Instruments Burr Brown PCM1792A converter responsible for processing 16-bit / 44.1 kHz PCM streams.
The analogue section utilises two 6922EH tubes coupled with a 12DT5 control tube, contributing to the sound reproduction characteristic of this model. Beyond its function as a CD player, the CS-100CD Silver can also be used as an external DAC thanks to its USB-B input.
When connected to a computer, it supports high-resolution digital audio streams up to 192 kHz, offering a versatile solution for digital music playback. Connectivity includes S/PDIF coaxial, Toslink optical and AES/EBU digital inputs and outputs, as well as RCA and XLR analogue outputs.
This configuration makes it easy to integrate into a wide range of hi-fi set-ups and allows it to be paired with various audio devices that have their own conversion capabilities. With a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, a dynamic range of 110 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB, the Cayin CS-100CD Silver delivers performance suited to demanding listening systems.
