The Cayin Soul 170i is a valve integrated amplifier designed for hi-fi enthusiasts seeking a combination of power and versatility. Its Class AB design utilises a selection of tubes comprising four Tungsol KT170 models dedicated to power amplification, complemented by 6SN7, ECC83S and 17AX4GT tubes. This architecture allows it to deliver up to 2 x 130 watts in Ultra-linear mode or 2 x 75 watts in Triode mode.
The Soul 170i offers two distinct sound signatures thanks to its selectable operating modes. Triode mode favours a reproduction rich in harmonics, whilst Ultra-linear mode emphasises dynamics and power reserve to drive more demanding speakers.
To ensure a wide frequency response, Cayin has equipped this amplifier with a bespoke toroidal transformer and in-house-built output transformers. This design helps achieve a bandwidth of 5 Hz to 50 kHz.
