The Tars Black On White from Collision Devices is a fuzz effect pedal that blends the worlds of guitar and synth. It is inspired by black holes, and its name is a reference to the robot 'Tars' from the film Interstellar.

The Tars is derived from the flagship Black Hole Symmetry and features the Singularity fuzz circuit.
This circuit is based on a germanium diode for a warm, crackling sound. The gain is adjustable, so you can go from a subtle sound to a powerful one.

Added to this fuzz circuit is a filter derived from the Korg MS-20 synthesiser. This filter is capable of creating noisy, piercing textures. It can be controlled via 2 faders, making it easy to control the frequency and intensity of the filter. The filter can also be controlled via an expression pedal, allowing you to create wah-wah or filter sweep effects.

This effect offers a variety of sounds, from crackling fuzz for rock or metal riffs, to powerful fuzz for solos or breaks, to noisy textures for experimental ambiences.

The Tars Black On White is an all-in-one effects pedal that can be used for a wide variety of musical styles. It's ideal for musicians who want to dare the unusual.

- Controls :

- Gain: placed after input level transistor Jfet and followed by silicon gain and clipping levels.

- Master: Main volume

- CutOff: This fader controls the cut-off frequency of the MS-20 low-pass filter. Based on an LM13700 stage. Ranges from 15Hz to 44kHz

- Resonance: Increases the signal intensity around the cut-off frequency.

- Lpf Vol: VCA - adjusts the output volume of the filter. Very useful for adjusting the filter to your configuration

- 2p/4p toggle switch: Selects the attenuation curve. Cuts at -12dB/octave (2p) or -24dB/octave (4p).

- Add Fuzz switch (On/Off): Adds an additional, unfiltered fuzz signal. The result is louder and creates cold frequencies that are amplified or reduced depending on the cut-off position.

- Switch S / P: Enables the fuzz to be passed through the filter in series - or to use both effects in //.

- Expression/CV: The Expression/CV control is linked to the cutoff fader. The value of the cutoff fader defines the lowest value that the EXP pedal can reach.
