Tosin Abasi is a Nigerian-American guitarist and composer, best known as the founder of the progressive metal band Animals as Leaders. Renowned for his mastery of the 8-string guitar, he blends jazz, classical music and metal in complex, fluid compositions. Abasi has developed advanced techniques such as sweeping, tapping and extended chords, influencing a whole generation of modern guitarists. He studied classical guitar and jazz at the Atlanta Institute of Music and the University of Southern California. Passionate about teaching, he regularly shares tutorials online and collaborates with Ibanez and Fractal Audio on popular instruments.
