The EMG 81-7X is a dual-coil active pickup for 7-string guitarists who want to attack hard with both drop tuning and standard tuning. It features ceramic magnets and a compact soapbar format.
In the bridge position, it brings out the precision of fast riffs and palm-mutes, with high notes that cut through the mix without becoming aggressive. In neck position, it retains sustain and roundness, ideal for more fluid leads or legato passages.
Its X Series preamp increases headroom and dynamics, for more expressive playing that's close to the feel of a passive pickup. The included VLPF lets you adjust the brightness and soften certain frequencies to suit your style.
In terms of styles, it's perfect for modern metal, djent and even prog, where the alternation between heavy rhythms and clean solos is essential.
The 81-7X can easily be combined with an 85-7X or 60-7X to create a complete set, designed for both stage and studio. The result: more control, more nuance and a powerful sound that follows your playing, whether it's energetic or more harmonious.
Thanks to the solderless system, installation is a breeze, with no need to break out the soldering iron!
