Designed to get the most out of a 7-string guitar, the EMG 85-7H is as effective on the neck as it is on the bridge. On the neck, it provides generous sustain and mellow high notes, perfect for fluid solos, legato licks or more lilting phrases. On the bridge, it densifies rhythms and softens the attack, giving a rounder, creamier texture, while maintaining the precision of fast palm-mutes and powerful chords.
Tailored for styles like modern metal, djent or heavy rock, it's just as convincing on clean passages, open arpeggios or airy chords. Even under heavy distortion, it retains crisp, note-by-note definition, making it ideal for technical riffs and the complex chord progressions characteristic of 7-strings.
It benefits from EMG's solderless wiring system, remains fully compatible with other EMG pickups and can be enhanced with optional modules such as VLPF, EXG, SPC or RPC to further refine the character of the sound.
